Performing a video call to an Android device
eCare - Performing a video call to an Android device
Supported browsers
A Video call performed from the eCare- platform can be executed using these following browsers:
Google Chrome
Firefox Quantum
Chromium Edge
Chromium Edge is the newest version of Edge browser. Generally, this is required to be downloaded separately, because in many devices the old Edge browser is not updated to the newest available version automatically.
We recommend to use the newest version of the selected browser available.
NOTE! The video calls made to Windows devices are still performed on Internet Explorer. If you have Windows devices as well as Android devices in your VideoVisit Environment, it is required to switch between browsers depending on to which type of device the video call is meant to be made.
Identifying an Android device
An Android device can be identified by it's green Android icon from the contacts list (see picture #1 below).
The status symbol regarding the Android devices (next to the Android icon) will always appear red. Therefore this does not necessarily imply that the device is offline/turned off.
Performing a video call to an Android device
To perform a video call to an Android device using the eCare -platform requires one of the following browsers, as mentioned above: Google Chrome, Firefox Quantum or Chromium Edge.
Depending on the operating Customer Organization, this might require that the old browser must be closed first (If Internet Explorer has been in use) and a supported browser to be opened (Google Chrome/Firefox Quantum/Chromium Edge) in order to perform a video call to an Android device.
When the need arises to perform a call to a Windows device, the browser-in-use must be switched back to Internet Explorer.
If the operating Organization is performing their video calls solely to Android devices, there is no need to switch browsers. In this case every video call is to be performed from the supported browsers mentioned above.
NOTE! Chromium Edge is the newest version of Edge browser. Generally, this is required to be downloaded separately, because in many devices the old Edge browser is not updated to the newest available version automatically.
